We're Moving!!!

Have you heard the news? Its official! We're moving to Colorado Springs in mid January. After a bit of back and forth, Cameron got a transfer to work in Colorado Springs.

We're really excited about the move and to be much closer to both of our families. It will be so fun to buy a house in a couple years and to officially settle down. Also, I miss the mountains.

Doodle Stitching

I have recently discovered Doodle Stitching. What is Doodle stitching, you ask? It is this:
This book is so awesome! If you want to learn to stitch original pieces and a the same time not feel like an old maid, you should get this book! It has the cutest patterns or "motifs" as the author calls them. My favorite thing about this book is that there are so many options to choose from that you can combine to make something your very own. It has inspired me, to say the least.

I have already made two gifts because of being inspired by this book

One was for Kelly. Well, its for Baby Wecker's room. I actually started this project before I even received the above book in the mail, but the cover inspired me so much, I had to start right away. As soon as I imagined this in my head, I knew it had to be for Kelly. Its totally her!

Gift for Baby "Sea monkey" Wecker

The second gift that I made is for Emily. I wanted to make something for her that she could put up in her house. This is what I came up with:

It has been so fun making these projects for my sisters. I have a lot more ideas so there will be more posts like this to come. I just love the freedom that stitching gives me. I can pick up some fabric, some thread and make something so fun!

I hope you both like your gifts!!! :)

Sometimes, I get bored

I think by now you might have discovered that this blog is less "us" and more "me".  Cameron is not super into the whole blogging thing and I feel more like I have to have a blog just like everybody else so I think it will most likely be me making these posts.  Good thing I like to do it! I will do my best to keep you informed of our goings-on and adventures.

That is for another time... right now, it is about me!! Ok, not really but I just wanted to share with you the fun things that I like to get excited about when i'm bored.

FIRST: cooking!
One of my favorite blogs is My Kitchen Cafe . It has a lot of awesome, delicious, tried and true recipes. I found out about it from a ward member that said the girl that writes it is her cousin. I HIGHLY recommend this site for anything you would like to cook. She does a great job at explaining how to prepare a wide range of food. Check out the "recipe index" for an almost endless list of recipes. It has AWESOME bread recipes too. I've made quite a few of them.

SECOND: Quilting
I have a limited skill set when it comes to quilting. I really like to do it but it usually makes me really frustrated when I try so hard and nothing turns out looking that great. For example, I am in the process of making a cute, colorful baby quilt. I found this pattern  and made it my own using the primary colors as my color scheme. It had so much potential! And for once, things were looking great... until I tried to quilt it together using "free motion" quilting with my sewing machine. It frankly did not work. And now i'm stuck. But hopefully i'll get more motivation soon and try something else. (I'll also try to post pics soon, because the quilt really IS cute...)

THIRD: Knitting/Crocheting!
I got on a kick of finding cute free patterns for knitting and found a ton here, here, here, here and here. I am in the process of knitting the first pattern - a skirt - but a smaller version for a baby/toddler. I find it easier to make smaller projects so that I don't get frustrated and give up. Its working out so far. :)

Anyway.... That is what I do when i'm bored.  Hope you get inspired! :)

What the?!

When did I create this blog?! I randomly stumbled upon it again and it almost creeped me out. But then a tiny bell
rang in my head and I remembered that I was the one that set it up! Weird.:\

Anywho... I guess an update is in order!

Cameron and I are still in Fairfax, VA and loving it! My favorite part about it (at this very second) is the fireflies at night! My least favorite thing would have to be the humidity. Blah. But other than that our lives are pretty much just work, eat, sleep, repeat.

We did recently go to California for Emily and Brice's wedding and we had a great time! The time we had in California was so busy and full of FUN things like the Long Beach Aquarium, Go-Cart racing, Hollywood, WB studio tour, the beach, DISNEYLAND and much, much more. But the most important thing that we participated in was the wedding. It was beautiful, fun, perfect. It was great to see how happy Em and Brice are. Aw! look how cute they are! :D

Oh, and we love our dog Mollie. I know its super cheesy and annoying but you would completely feel the same way if you met her! She is seriously the best dog in the whole wide world and we love her to pieces. So I guess you'll just have to get used me blogging about her. Also, we want her to have puppies in a year or two so we're taking names now for those of you who want one. :)

Okay, that wasn't much of an update, i'll admit. But its the summer and we have a lot of fun activities and visits and roadtrips planned so I will keep you in the loop. I have to keep you coming back for more, right?!
